We had our daughter in a Graco SafeSeat Infant Car Seat. My husband dropped the car seat with our daughter in it. Thank goodness our daughter was not hurt, she didn’t even wake up. The car seat cracked, so we are looking for a new car seat. Is she to small to move to a convertible toddler seat? She is 6 months old and 18lb, and probably around 27in long.
If so can you recommend a good toddler car seat?

Nope, not too small at all! I’m glad your daughter is ok.
We have 2 Britax Marathons and love them! My daughter is still rearfacing at age 3 and will be able to rearface to 33lbs (the new ones rearface to 35lbs, though) then she’ll be able to forward face to 65lbs.
Britax Marathon, or any Britax seat. They are the safest ones out there.

Their convertible seats should carry you through until she is ready for a booster seat.
She will need to stay in a rear facing car seat until she is 1 yr old, even if she is 20 lbs. If you can find a convertible, it will save you money in the long run.
most convertible carseats are made to accommodate 5 lbs and up…so i’d say rather than buy a new infant seat, get a convertible. we have an evenflo triumph…got it at target…and we like it a lot. it also can be used up to 50 lbs. or 5 years, which is more than a lot of convertible carseats. it is easy to adjust the straps and baby seems comfy in it.
*** the 1 yr and 20lbs. is the minimum. keep baby rear facng as long as you can…it is the safest.
We used Graco for both the infant seat and convertible car seat. As the user above me said, keep the convertible seat rear facing until the baby is 1 yr and 20 lbs
Britax Marathon!!!!!
Love this seat and it seems to be very safe!
Glad she is okay too!
The quick answer is YES, she can definitely go into a convertible seat. However, she must stay rear facing until she is 1.
The great thing about convertible seats is that they are long lasting and, can often times, take you well into the toddler years.
Britax consistently gets the best safety ratings for their convertible car seats. I too would recommend the Britax marathon but be forewarned that they are expensive- over $200 and very large. So, you should be certain you check the dimensions before making the investment.
Here are some reviews of the Britax. http://www.viewpoints.com/Britax-Marathon-reviews You can also read reviews of other convertible car seats on this site too if the Britax is out of your price range!
